Design Graduation Party Invitations

Graduation season is upon us, and if you’ve got a daughter, son, cousin or friend who’s graduating, it’s time to think about graduation parties and gifts! Like many of the other important moments in life, Simply to Impress loves this time of year, because we have a wonderful selection of graduation invitations and graduation announcements!

Design Graduation Party Invitations
One of the best parts about graduation is throwing a party! What a better way to do it than by sending out custom invitations from Simply to Impress? There’s a chance that not all of your family and friends will be able to make it to the actual ceremony, so this is a wonderful way to get everyone together.

Be sure to remember to order your personalized graduation invitations with plenty of time in advance. You’ll need to allow a few weeks so your family and friends can save the date for your big moment!

Design Custom Graduation Announcements
Another idea is to create personalized graduation announcements. If you’re not having a party, and if not all of your family members can make it to your ceremony, be sure to create a graduation announcement that shares your big news with all of the important people in your life.

Simply to Impress has a number of different card shapes, sizes and types of card paper, and we are sure that you’ll love the selection!

Congratulations to the class of 2014! We love sharing these big moments with you!

Designing Holiday Photo Cards

The holidays are our favorite time of year, because after all, who doesn’t love decorating the house, bundling up in your favorite winter-time sweaters, and celebrating with family with the most delicious meals?

But our absolute favorite part is holiday cards!

Today, we’re giving you a few tips to help you create a beautiful card for this year.  Every year our customers take beautiful family photos and then create cards. So we’re going to share a few of our favorite elements for awesome cards.

Designing Holiday Photo Cards

If you’ve taken your family photos this year, it’s time to get to to design your family’s card! Designing holiday photo cards is a chance to share a special moment with your family and friends, plus you can be as creative as you want!

The first step is choosing the right photo, or series of photos. Find one that really brings out the characters in your family. Or, maybe you just want to highlight your daughter or son? Or, maybe you even had a birth announcement! Either way, take a special moment from the year, and let that moment shine.

Simply to Impress’ Tips for this year:

  • Less is more – if you have one great picture, use that one!
  • If you create a photo collage, find a design that ties all them together. This might mean using the colors from the photo as a guide.
  • Determine a color theme. Is your family wearing a single color in the photo? Use that theme to carry through the design.
  • Choosing a card design can be tough with SO many choices! But, keep it simple. Find a style that sticks out to you, and then make sure that your photo really stands out.

Happy holidays from Simply to Impress! We can’t wait to see your holiday photos!

Thanksgivukkah House and Table Decorations

As you know, Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to get your house decorations in order!  But this year is different from the rest. Why? Because for the first time since 1888, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah land on the same day!

Since this could quite possibly be the best holiday of all time, we are giving you a special post for Thanksgivukkah house and table decorations!

If you missed the details, the next Thanksgivukkah won’t happen for another 78,000 years – so if you’re Jewish and if you love turkey, then it’s time to get your house ready for family, food and celebrations!

Thanksgivukkah House and Table Decorations

Preparing your house for the holidays is never an easy feat, but here at Simply to Impress, we know how important it is to prepare early.

The most important thing to think about is your table. Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving without a proper table! To spice up your table, focus on blue, orange, brown or metallic colors. These will perfectly compliment your holiday table.  One idea is to use an orange table cloth with blue place mats (as pictured below). Or, you could do a blue table cloth, with brown place mats and orange pumpkins, candles and plates. You get the idea – use the colors to bring your table to Thanksgivukkah life! And, it’s even better if you can use items that you already have around the house.

Next, think about your actual decorations that will go on the table. What candles will match your table cloth, place mats, napkins and plates?  Candles are especially important because you’ll need them for your menorah. Other good ideas for your table are: pumpkins, leaves, flowers and decorative corn.

Here are a few photos of our favorite Thanksgivukkah table.

You can use any different variation. Just use your creativity to bring your favorite two holidays together.

Or maybe you need a “menurkey”! Don’t be afraid to go all out for this holiday – after all, it will only happen just this once!

Maybe you haven’t heard of this holiday before, and if you haven’t, you’re not alone. Thanksgivukkah last occurred in 1888, and if it doesn’t happen again for another 77,798 years, this is the only time you’ll ever get to celebrate this special holiday!

Preparing for Thanksgivukkah

If you’re going to get ready for this holiday, there’s a few things you’ll need to take care of. First and foremost, you’ll of course need Thanksgivukkah cards! Luckily, here at Simply to Impress, we’ve got some great cards that we know you’ll love. Take a look at some of our favorites below.

All this Anna Wintour costume requires is a black dress, wig, Vogue magazine and over-sized sunglasses. Your girlfriends will get a kick out of this!

“Up” melts our hearts, and so does this adorable costume!  All you need is some tube piping, balloons, a cardigan, bow tie, and glasses.

A snail is such a cute and easy idea! Get a tan tunic and leggings. Then, wrap up a tan tarp and attach arm handles to put on the back. After that , all you need is a simple headband to make the antennae!

This is a really easy (and adorable) one! Simply order a hammerhead shark cape, then put a blue or gray shirt & pants on your little boy.

We adore mom & kid costumes. You can order a cookie costume for your little one, and then easily create a milk container out of cardboard box. All you need is a sharpie, and some fabric to hold the box over your shoulders!

Peacocks are another favorite because they are so colorful. Gather some peacock feathers, and attach them to the back of a blue or green shirt. Get blue or green tutu, and voila! Your daughter has become the cutest peacock on the block!

How to Shoot Great Family Photos

Use the holiday season to take the great photos of your kids, dog, and more! Even if photo taking can be a big task, here at Simply to Impress, we’re going to give you our top tips to take awesome family photos.

1. Choose a Photographer

Even if some photographers are pricey and you’re watching your budget this season, it is still entirely possible to get great photos at a decent price. Try looking for novice photographers who are wanting to build their portfolio. You can often times find great people who want more experience. Take a look on your local Craigslist, or maybe even a nearby college that has a photography school. There is always someone who is looking to grow their business – and it could start with you!

2. Choosing your clothing wisely

Be comfortable – especially if you have little kids. You don’t need to make this process any more difficult for yourself! Your kids are going to feel more relaxed if they are in clean clothes they love. If everyone is having fun, it’s going to quickly translate in your photos.

You should also try to avoid patterns, and keep it basic. If you’re ever in doubt, try choosing one or two colors that complement each other well.

3. Keep the location easy

If you’re worried about colorful or scenic backgrounds, take your focus back to your family. Your kids are the most important part of these photos! Try not to worry too much about where the best location is. This spot could even be in the comfort of your own home. Remember, simplicity is key!
